הקורס יסקור תגליות משמעותיות בפרהיסטוריה של האדם – מכלי האבן הראשונים ועד להמצאת הקרמיקה. יידונו ביטויים הארכיאולוגי של המצאות וגילויים בולטים כדוגמת האש, קבורה, אמנות, בנייה באבן, והאופן בו השפיעו על היבטי חיים שונים, טכנולוגיים ותרבותיים, של המין האנושי.

מטרת הקורס לספק היכרות בסיסית עם דרך הופעתם של המצאות וגילויים טכנולוגיים במהלך התפתחותו הפרהיסטורית של האדם. באלה נכלל טווח רחב של תגליות אשר השפיעו על אורח חייו של האדם טכנולוגית וחברתית. בנוסף, יתוארו האמצעים הארכיאולוגיים המשמשים לזיהויים ולהגדרתם של גילויים אלה.
